Bearings

There are several types of bearings that can be used in a manual transmission. The types of bearing that can be used in a manual transmission are:

  • Caged needle bearings
  • Ball bearings
  • Roller bearings
  • Tapered roller bearings

    • The G56 transmission uses 5 tapered roller bearings, they are located on the input shaft, front and rear of the output shaft, and front and rear of the counter shaft. The G56 also uses caged needle bearings under all of the speed gears and reverse idler gear.
