Counter Shaft
The counter shaft contains the input gear that connects to the input shaft gear along with the gears that are in mesh with the gears on the output shaft. The counter shaft may contain fixed gears, speed gears, and synchronizers. If the speed gears are all on the output shaft the counter shaft will only contain fixed gears. The G56 transmission counter shaft only contains fixed gears, and support bearings.
