Input ShaftThe power from the engine is transmitted through the clutch to the input shaft. When the clutch is disengaged, the power is not transferred to the input shaft. When the clutch is engaged the power is transmitted to the input shaft and the rest of the transmission. The input shaft is supported by a pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft on the engine and also by the input shaft bearing in the transmission. The clutch is bolted to the flywheel which is bolted to the engine crankshaft. The input shaft splines connect it to the clutch so that the engine power is transferred to the transmission. The input shaft also supports the front of the output shaft through a bearing cup in the end of the input shaft gear. Input Shaft – G56 Transmission Shown |
