Transmission CaseTransmissions used today can have two different designs. The two designs are top loading and split case designs. On the top loading design transmissions the components inside the transmission are installed through a cover on the top of the transmission. On a split case design the transmission case splits into two pieces and the components are placed into one half of the case and the other half of the case is placed on top and bolted together. The split case design is becoming more popular today with most automotive manufactures. This course will cover the split case design transmissions.
